| I was religious about watching all episodes in order until Carell left, but I haven't really seen the last two seasons, so some of the inhale was lost on me. That said, Jim and Pam moving elsewhere was perfect, as they were always too smart/cool to be in a town like Scranton. |

I kept watching until the end, but like the others it was more so out of habit towards the last couple of seasons.
They didn't do too badly without Steve Carrell considering the show had largely been based around him...(kind of like continuing on Breaking Bad without Walt), but most of the jokes had been done and become increasingly stale. Still a few laughs each episode, but nothing like the first 3 or 4 seasons.
*The Simpsons on the other hand - for the love of god somebody euthanize that mangy, old dog. Horrible to see what that show has become for the past 6 or 7 seasons* |

I also watched the show out of habit as well, like How I Met Your Mother. Many of the episodes were excruciatingly bad, like all of HIMYM, but the last episodes leading up to the finale were great.
And you got me thinking about Breaking Bad, was wondering what happened to it. Season premiere is August 11th, and I can't wait. |

it was a good show...as mentioned, declined during the end and i kinda threw it on as background noise and/or missed entire seasons
still the best thing was "That's what she said" The Office really popularized that and so many other sublet things, sayings, etc. |

| I was disappointed by the last episode to be honest. Everyone was too damn nice, it was almost out of character. |

Like someone else here said, I stopped watching half a season after Michael left. I mean, I tuned in here and there and then watched most of the last season because the show provided me with so much entertainment I almost felt obliged (much like a sports fan watches their pathetic home team out of obligation).
The parade of 'bosses' was terrible, and Andy was the most pathetic character on American TV I've seen. And not even a fun pathetic like Ricky Gervais' original. It was just badly done. They tried to make him a lovable loser, but it was just....bad.
Jim and Pam got tired and they tried to spice it up with random conflict. Pam boo-hooing to the random boom guy was ridiculous. And then he gets fired for protecting her from a physical assault? Is that supposed to set up the hero play? Because they kind of dropped him after that.
Steve Carrel looked bored and bothered to even show up for the finale. I liked how Dwight and Jim got along at the end, though. I liked Stanley and Phyllis, too. But most of everything else was just so rushed. Erin's parents coming out all of a sudden, ugh.
It's all about Parks and Rec at this point. There aren't many sitcoms out there that are any good, though. Sometimes I just want to have a short burst of inconsequential easy laughs while eating dinner or before bed, but they're in short supply. I find myself watching old ones (3rd Rock from the Sun is a good one) on youtube. If anyone has any suggestions, that'd be great. |

you are an idiot. Do you think I REALLY care about those two morons on the show?
You are probably one of those losers at a party who sits there with a beer in his hands with no one else around you because you look angry and have a mean mug on your face. Let me guess no girlfriend, fat and ugly too. Am I right?
You are really bitter in life, you wanna tell ole Dodge what the problem is? |
I believe this discussion is about to turn very cerebral.
Let's observe and learn. |

i agree w/a lot of what you said about the Office
in regards to great Comedies there are a lot but it depends on your personal taste, i like Sports related shows like:
The League & My Boys but sometimes completely mind numbing shows like:
Workaholics or It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia are good for a few laughs
If you haven't seen New Girl, that is a really funny Show on regular T.V. and is by far one of the best comedies in a while |

I used to love this show. Maybe as much as I loved the UK Office. But after a few seasons I got too busy to keep up. The other day I caught a recent episode and couldn't believe how much it had changed for the worse. I couldn't make it through the episode.
Comparing that episode with the early seasons, everything about camera work and editing is different. The whole deadpan documentary atmosphere was killed and replaced with the familiar bland sitcom style. The writing had also gone downhill, but it was the different style that made it unwatchable for me. |
