|
|
At the moment I'm receiving physical therapy for my scapular, bicep tendonitis and tricep tendonitis. I have to pay about 150,000 won for 4 visits every two weeks. I've already paid for 4 weeks so far and so far it is getting better. Is there any way to claim this back? They said no. Also am I getting ripped off? Sometimes I feel like these hospital are more like businesses with dodgy salesmen. Could I go somewhere else and receive physical therapy for a lot cheaper or somewhere covered? My friend thinks I'm getting ripped off. I'm in Busan if that helps and going to Good Samsun Hospital. |

It depends on what insurance you have. If your insurance covers it, is is covered, if it doesn't, it isn't... Most insurance types don't cover rehab and physical therapy unless you are hospitalised while you are receiving it. |

I had ACL surgery two years ago and the PT was covered by insurance. It only cost around 3,000 won per visit so it was well worth it. The hospital where I had the surgery had a list of places that I could go to and it was covered as if I was getting the PT at the place of the surgery. |

Instead of asking here where you might get some information that is relevant to your case if you are lucky, why not contact the insurance carrier or ask a Korean friend to do that.
Then you will get factual info related to your insurance coverage no? |

You have insurance and you're going to a hospital for the therapy and it costs almost 40,000won per visit? If that's right, I'd say you're getting ripped off.
Chiropractic and sports massage aren't covered by insurance, but therapy at a hospital or clinic is. |

I also had surgury for repair of a sports related injury with a couple months of follow-up physio.
It cost me 3000 won per 1 hour visit.
I did have NHIC.
If you are paying 150k per week then perhaps you don't have NHIC or you are getting charged "international rates" in an "international" clinic.

Another reason to learn as much Korean as possible. I avoid international clinics, taxis, etc. like the plague, due to the ridiculous surcharges. I'm another that paid 3-4,000 per hour of proper PT (although having a background in PT, I questioned their choice of using literally EVERY modality at their disposal).

Okay I'm currently looking into it. I called up the NHIS and they said I'm registered but not registered for check-ups. Not exactly sure what she meant since my insurance card did cover me for when I saw the shoulder doctor. She suggested I talk to my boss about it. I'm going to give him the receipts for the therapy and get him to ask about the hospital about it |

Okay so I found out why I was getting charged so much. They were sending me for "special" one on one physical therapy. I managed to get a refund on the 4 visits I had not yet used so I was only out of pocket the first 4 visits. When I told them I couldn't afford it then they told me about the physical therapy they have on the other which is a lot cheaper around 8000 won per visit. |

that sounds a bit more like it should. i'm getting physio done these days too, and it costs no more than 6,000 per visit. it's only 6,000 when i also have an x-ray done. it's usually around 4,500. each visit includes a consultation with the doctor before my visit to the physio area. |
