I'm heading to Jeju island with about 300 first-year high school girls on Sunday.

Today the Principal has another person tell me to watch out what the girls do in photos with me -- don't let them get out of hand like last year's trip.

I wasn't here last year, and the other foreign teachers are gone. I'm dying to know what it was the girls did!

You're bringing 300 girls to Jeju by yourself? Why? what are you doing? and what kind of school has the students take a field trip like that? I need that type of job, sounds like a blast!

But seriously, what are you doing in Jeju? Other than a few things, I can't imagine what you'd want to do here for a day?

It's their 1st year class trip. The 1st year students take a trip to Jeju every year.

There will probably be at least 15 to 20 other teachers there.

Couple years ago my middleschool girls went to Jejudo. Last morning they got their hands on a fire extinguisher & pretty much totalled a room & a hallway in their hotel. One irate hotel-owner on the phone, one dumbfounded principal, some fairly stern consequences. Highschool kids (boys anyway) would view a trip like this as licence to smoke & drink with tacit approval from parents & teachers, who did the same in their day. Its not really your job to rein them in Derrek but dont be seen encouraging them.

schwa is right, a photo of you with a bunch of girls holding some beer for example might land you in a big heap of trouble.

Oh gawd.... I did that in High School!

But we blew the fire extinguisher on a tree behind the house -- not in a hotel!

Well, there may be an extra ticket...

One of my coworkers hasn't returned from a family emergency back home, and one of the Koreans in charge of the trip is getting nervous. I got called about it today. Hopefully my forienger coworker will show up tonight. His cousin, who has his cellphone, didn't expect him back until tomorrow though. Shocked

I hope he's on the trip. I'll get pretty bored with no other foriegner to talk to!

Ha... I was more worried about a girl posing for a photo, and just before the shutter snaps, she smooches me on the cheek.

That has been tried before.

Lots of beer and soju. THey just get really drunk and the ones with big crushes through themselves at you. Just use your head and you'll be fine. Wait that didn't come out right.

Okay, I'll bite. Anyone else want to know what could have happened on this trip with anyone other than Derrek? Where are the follow-up stories?

I felt that a couple years ago when some students went abroad, but because I taught a different grade, we went to some MT place, where the teachers just watched the kids do physical training for a few days.

A ton of schools goto Cheju though...mine has many times, however I was always teaching the wrong grade so never went Sad
