My current teaching contract at a public school in Seoul is finished at end of August.
Funding is not being continued so I am done with that school then.
My plan:
Transfer from E-2 to D-10 if I don't have a job by the end of Aug.
I have my own place and I think that I will get a GEPIK position eventually (Sept...Oct...Nov). I could use a break and my rent is cheap. I can leave my current home anytime if I give 2 months notice. I would pay them out if I have to.
I have a good reference from my current school.
Is GEPIK slim pickings these days??? I figure that with elementary experience and being here for an interview that I should find something during the time allowed on my D-10 (either 3 or 6 months).
Thoughts???
Thanks!!! |

Wouldn't the Seoul education office just transfer you to another school that does want a teacher? That doesn't make any sense. That's what they'd do out here in the provinces unless you got a bad review. I ehard you guys were getting cut out of middle school. So, it makes no sense to me why they wouldn't send you to elementary school. Surely, they'd be offereing a job at one to a newbie. I'd call the ed office and ask to do that, instead. |

Go to the GPOE office (behind the world cup stadium in Suwon).
The policy division is on the 2nd floor at the back of the building.
Chances are good that you will get a job before you leave the office.
Alternatively, drop off a few resumes in the area that you live in.
Chances are good that you will find a PS position opening next term.
