I was teaching whilst studying for my A-Levels, I had a pretty low workload for them and taught for approximately 20 hours a week during term time (all day saturday and 3 evenings) and more during vacations. It wasn't my full time job but was pretty close to being so. In England your school contact time from 16-18 is as low as 15hrs a week as you do a lot of independant study. Uber1024, thats only makes sense if you are profit maximising with an upward sloping supply curve, I have at present a supply curve which has a choke point on it which means that I need to bring the price down to make the market for my labour clear. Have I forgotten anything regarding changing employers, or is the process once I finally get pushed, go to imigration to get my E-2 cancelled (I don't yet have my arc, another bone of contention), reapply with new employer (maybe having done a brief trip abroad to get a new tourist visa?).

OiGirl, not sure how it is in other countries but it is entirely possible given special circumstances in Australia. My Ba. Business Admin degree was 3 years in length (no work experience year). During my first year of uni, I took a scholarship to study one semester in Korea which was fun because I just turned 18 at the time.

I managed to graduate at 20, spent one year working at two different universities at home (ambassador program; dept of management), then spent last year doing a marketing internship at a medical company in California. Nowdays at 22 turning 23 studying my Masters of Marketing, accepted into the course based on industry experience (my father is owner of computer wholesaling business for the past decade, I was responsible for marketing programs). Sometimes you can get lucky ^^

On a side note, I'm looking for corporate positions in Korea so I can completely relate to how you feel, Bunnymonster. I'd take pretty much anything just to be there once more. Check out some other threads on recommended recruiters such as:

Hello, Bunnymonster!

Right after looking at this thread, I noticed another thread entitled "Why can't my hagwon find a new teacher?"

Just wanted to make sure you noticed it.

To the OP: regarding your present employer, what exactly are these "glaring problems" w/your teaching? Often as not, the director will come down on the waygook teacher if a parent has any complaint from their little darling that happens to be your student. If you can get this rectified, it might be worth your while to hang in there to at least the 6-month mark. Just a thought....

LOL, English university has even fewer official contact hours, I had approximately 12 contact hours a week for 3 years to get my batchelors degree. On the other hand I spent pretty much all of the remaining time in the library reading all of the books that I needed to have studied and going to lecturer's office hours trying to work out what the mysterious symbols they had used in their course packs meant. Also bear in mind I am a real 22 and not a Korean 22 and that UK degrees are crammed into 3 years not 4. But as I say the teaching experience from England dates back to before my university course (I haven't counted the language exchange stuff I did during those years).

What's the big deal? I finished classes at the age of 20. Even after farting around until May convocation for my degree, I was still 20.

Were the "glaring problems" that they found someone cuter? Confused

Sadly, a serious question.

quite possibly. I really don't know what is happening I just feel very much like a pariah at the minute which makes me feel that everybody else know something I don't (like who wants to be friends with the guy who'd getting the shove). Meh, who knows I hear the beaches in Malaysia are nice this time of year......
