I'm probably rehashing a reoccurring subject here, but I'm wondering about your thoughts on the current hiring climate over there in Korea. I tried last year, no luck. Of course, at the time it was I and my fiance who were trying to get hired together, at least in the same town. The recruiters all told me the same thing at the time, "it's just too flooded right now and nearly impossible to get a job." Well, I'm a single man now and I'm going to have another go at trying to get hired in Korea. So guys, what do you think of a would-be teachers chances these days? |

Finding "ANY" job = not that hard.
Finding a "decent" job or being fussy about location/hours/etc = not that easy.

YOU ARE rehashing. Did you look down, there is a whole topic about the market right now.

You probably have a better chance now getting a job since you are not tied down with a GF. Also take anything recruiters say with a grain of salt. They will say flooded and then offer you a crude position. Do not rely on recruiters to find you a good position.
Also your desirability and hireability effects you. A person already in Korea is better then some joe schmoe back in the US.
You have to make your good points shine and your bad points disappear. |

I'd say make yourself presentable and have a lot of patience. Something will turn up eventually if you're determined. That said, it's probably less flooded than 2009 to 2011ish. Economy still sucks back home in most places but not as bad as it was. If a recruiter tells you flooded, find another recruiter or network with a friend who's already over here if you have any here working. |

I don't see how having a partner makes it significantly more difficult if you aren't one of those couples who demand to work together at the same school (which is not a bright move in my opinion, putting all your eggs into one basket).
It could actually be better. One person gets a job, and then the other does the same and says they don't need an apartment, just housing allowance. This would be better than tying the school's money up. |

The economic situation has improved in some ways but that might not necessarily translate into fewer applicants.
Be interesting to hear from people applying now. |

There's still more applicants than jobs available, though maybe not by the same proportions. |
