Like most festivals, it's a good reason to drink during the day.

Been to Mudfest three times, and found things different everytime. If you have never been then you can't understand why people who do go enjoy it. I can't say it is the most exciting entertainment in the world, but the atmosphere is what makes it a fun place to go.

I suppose I have the same feelings as the OP for not wanting to attend some of the festivals in the country. I can't remember where my wife found it before, but there is a website that actually lists all of the festivals in the country annually, and she discovered that there is a festival going on somewhere in Korea every day of the year. She also discovered that Korea hosts more than 1200 festivals annually across the country. So, I am sure there is plenty to do for everyone who has an interest in doing something for fun.

What's the big deal? Good question. Wait until you see how many Korean male photographers go there just to take pictures for their amateur porn sites "Drunken foreigners covered in mud." BTW, they take pics of dudes, too, even older, fatter, balder ones. Very creepy.

They're a lot like this- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JF_sy7HdBww

Drunken foreigners making themselves and everyone around them look bad by peeing in the aquariums outside the local restaurants and kicking over signs and acting loud and belligerent. Ah, no thanks. These are just some of the things I've heard regarding that lame event known as mudfest. I'd NEVER go.

describes it perfectly, its the one Korean festival I tell people NOT to go to. There tens if not hundreds of better festivals in Korea to go to this is not one of them. Think US Spring Break with Korean filming hoping for a foreign boob flash or nip slip

It used to be tame, then foreigners co-opted it and turned it into Spring Break Korea.

There are some fat, ugly Western girls but there are plenty of hot K-girls to make up for it. As far as the chance of disease, bleh never heard of it happening to anyone I know.
