LOL what respect?! Your still a loser basket weaver foreign teacher in their eyes. This isn't the West where you WOULD get respect. You arent even a real teacher let alone 'professor'. That's funny. |
*You're still a loser.
I get plenty of respect here, from my co-workers, parents, kids, etc. Maybe the problem is you?
And are you saying every teacher in every country in the west is respected?? Please... |
Just ignore Dodge7; he is a nutcase and a loser. |

| The long and short of it is that the pay is on par with university instructor wages paid about 15 years ago. Give it a pass unless you plan on getting in, getting a year of 'university teaching experience' and then moving on to a better gig. No place that pays such an unsubstantial wage can be taken seriously, so if you're a serious teacher, it's not for you. |
Spot on. If you have an MA or a Phd you should be expecting higher than 2.0 million won a month. If you've just arrived here and have a degree in anus gazing then I'd say go for it.
Regarding finishing early and cancelling classes: there may be some reasons that you need to finish a class 5-10 minutes early but if you are finishing your classes 30 minutes early every week eventually you will get fired. Also, the cancelled classes usually have to be made up at the end of the semester. From what I understand universities must teach at least 15 weeks to be considered a full semester. If someone could confirm or deny that, it would be appreciated.
The bottom line is if you're a decent teacher you will be putting the time in to make sure your classes are as good as possible. I have two folders bursting with additional material and activities, which I use to support the terrible book we use. If my bosses ever want proof of my effort then I could show them my folders. When I leave I will take my folders with me and see if any of the activities can be used elsewhere. This results in me putting a lot more hours in than many of my colleagues. This is why I would not consider working at Daegu uni. The money offered is not commensurate with my talent, experience, and level of education. |

| Sorry son. Didn't you know that in Korea it's all about the appearance of education and not actual education itself? |
