for those of you who ride bikes, scooters etc in korea, it may interest you to know the korean police are currently having a nation wide crack down.
i got this info. from 'the mechanic', korea.
they are pulling bikes etc to check for illegal tuning,HID, wrong sized handlebars, aftermarket adj. etc. including exhausts.
crack down will be from june 13th till oct. 13th 2013.
police now have temporary power to confiscate your bike if fines arent paid.
Fines are under 3,000,000 and a year in the slammer if fine isnt paid.
Anyone violating safety standards, 1,000,0000 fine plus points on licence.
Store owners will also be fined for selling the parts/bike if applicable.
note
THE ONLY LEGAL CHANGE YOU CAN MAKE TO A BIKE IS THE MUFFLER. but to do that you have to do all kinds of crap at the gu office and what ever. subscribe to the mechanic on fb for more details.

Does this mean there will be more room on the sidewalk? It sounds like a good plan. Now, just make sure my chicken delivery isn't late.
Future prediction: 6742 auto bike citations will be pardoned by the president due to financial burdens upon the chicken and pizza delivery business. |

i think you have to take your bike to the test centre to get the db checked too. its 105 as far as i can see (again, cheers to the ROK riders)!
doest leave much room for fun!

I don't care about loud bikes, modified bikes, hid lights, etc
Just start ticketing the bikes and scooters that go on the sidewalk. Thi includes bicycles as well. Just use the road!!! |

hopefully they'll "crack down" as hard as they did last year.
but if anybody's gonna have a big problem with this, i suspect it'll be pretty much every single restaurant in korea that offers delivery, since their deliverymen are never licensed and some of em don't even have plates. |

| ive seen about a lot lof bikes being pulled. theyre alot more serious this time. look on the rom riders page, its got a few pics of bikes being pulled. last weekend a group of about 20 harleys got stopped in seoul. |

If they'd just ticket the ones who break the traffic laws, they'd put a stop to most of this nonsense without punishing people and shops who customize their bikes.
Two nights ago a fat guy on a motorbike was asking people at a crosswalk to move out of his way so he could go first when the light changed. Too bad he didn't collide with the other two motorbikes using the crosswalk from the other side.
And why do those bikes drop so much oil? You walk down a fresh sidewalk only to see the brand new stones covered with black spots.
Motorbikes are third-world transportation. Korea can do better. |

But honestly...will this be enforced all summer long? Five months is a long time. Maybe by early July they'll forget about it and just go back to picking up blacked out ajusshis off the ground again. |
