My FIL likes to talk politics, sports, current events, things he is doing on his farm and so on. I find him pretty interesting, especially the stories about his youth growing up in an era when Korea was pretty much shattered. He sure has had a fascinating life.

As for family events, some are great, some are boring but that is to be expected I suppose.

Many of you say how many in-laws talk about food all the time. In my case, every time I meet mom and bros-IL, I cook them food they've never had before, more often than not on their home turf. I've shown them how it can really be good/tasty/filling and not Korean. (I'm Mediterranean). I have yet to hear another conversation about food in immediate family gatherings , and even had my MIL talk me up as a wonderful cook to the rest of the clan. While they would talk about it, I just made it and gave it to them. Now they just dote on our daughter and leave the cooking to me! Gives me something to do for a couple of days. Good times! Cool

Yes, pasticcio, no moussaka. Gemista, tzatziki, salad w/homeplus black olives and trakaya 'white cheese' from costco, fasolada, fakes, prassorizo, keftedes, etc. I'm very "Korean" in that way....If it ain't Greek it's weak...Especially with food.

I'm just curious. What do you do about air conditioning. I remember in the past some ex Korean girlfriends not liking my air con when i loved having it on. I know a couple of guys who go with their wife's wishes on that and don't use it at night. Personally, I can't sleep in summer without it on. I can't stand the heat. (Though I'm sure my tolerance has gradually increased somewhat over years here.)

Not a deal breaker, but just curious about that issue.

When she complained about the A/C, I handed her some thick cotton 'jammys.
