Hey all... I recently got a job offer from KSA and it's too good

to turn down. My problem is this... How to tell my school I can't continue

with them. I'm close with everybody I work with and fear they may be

very disappointed with my news. But business is business...

I only have 2 months left on my contract and they

may not let me leave a week or two before my contract ends.

I desperately need a small vacation before Saudi.

Any input ... any help will be appreciated..!

Thank you!!

Check your contract and find out how long of a notice you must give. If you have a one month notice, you are golden. If your contract ends in two months and you plan on moving on, then what you said is true, business is business. Give them a one month notice, and tell them you need to move on. You may lose your severance or a good portion of it, I don't know, but if the contract requires a two month notice, then you would be on the hook for severance and perhaps some other expenses if my memory serves me correct. Good luck on your new job pursuit.

You can quit anytime. Whether or not they will try to come after you for certain things depends on your contract

Complete the contract and then reapply for a Saudi job, that is if the company that is hiring you won't wait. In this case the recommendation from the Korean school is much more important than the KSA job.

If you decide to drop the offer from KSA, you need to hurry up and let them know that it would be best for you to not take up there offer. If the KSA process moves on any further you could somehow maybe be blacklisted for a year or two from getting another KSA job.

I doubt there is a fail-proof way to leave without creating bad blood. Giving as much notice as you can and apologising profusely is obviously a good start. Also do whatever else you can to make the transition to a new teacher as easy as possible. Can you help them find someone so they can save on recruiter's fees? Can you organise all your lesson plans to make the new teacher's job easier?

If they're still angry, you'll just have to accept it and move on.
