I need to go to the dentist and get a cleaning and check up and most likely get a few cavities filled.
How much should I expect to pay w/o insurance? |

I have heard next month national health will cover cleanings. It's cost me about 60K in the past.
[Strangely dental crowns have cost me less without insurance than they cost me in Canada with dental insurance.] |

I dont have any insurance (national etc).
Cleanings are dirt cheap like 10,000 won.
Cant remember how much an examine was, I think it was 70,000 won.
Hoping I can get everything done for 200-300k.
Prob be more like 500k. Fug I should have opted for the health insurance. |

Cleanings are cheap, but if you need scaling then that's going to be around 50k without insurance. |

Really? This is strange. In the past, I always got it twice a year and it was covered by the medical insurance. Now, I'm at a new dentist. I had one done today and she told me it wasn't covered and I had to pay 50,000 won. |

I heard there are two types of "cleanings" here. One is some kind of light cleaning I don't know about and the other is what they call "scaling" which is what people in the west are used to. |

Yeah, I meant scaling. I didn't know there was another kind. |

Yeah, the cleanings in the past didn't seem as deep. Just some light polishing. This thing yesterday was a deep scraping and she mentioned using a sonic whitener on something like that. She didn't need much though as I had whiter non smoking teeth. (Didn't have the heart to tell her I do sometimes. Crest Whitening strips do their job.)
Anyways, she would have charged me 50,000 versus 60,000 if the teeth needed more whitening. |

Can anyone recommend a good (reasonably priced) dentist in Seoul? It's been a while and I need to get a cleanup and likely have some work done that I've been putting off. |
