| Saints appear in this world. They die, and then man creates religion to glorify Them. The essence of all religion is not man-made. |

| No, my point was that some religions do not consider themselves man-made. But, we'll have to make another thread to discuss this further. |

Some Buddhists in Korea do have issues, and I'm not surprised about the monks who frequent red-light districts (I saw a few eat at fancy joints around the Chogye Temple). Some Buddhist organizations get a lot of donations every year, and it all goes to buy fancy cars for monk leaders and the like. I think many monks in Korea probably thought they were ready to wear the robe and jumped into it.
Yeah, the fights between the rival factions at the Chogye Temple were so embarassing. But think about this, Buddhism has had a relatively bloodless history and does not press its followers to press it down the throats of non-believers. It is the fastest-growing faith (it is not a religion) in the West. I've always been of the mind that religion and Koreans do not mix because from what I've seen, Koreans take things to the extreme.
You may also want to visit other Buddhist countries before blasting Buddhism. Some Koreans may have strayed from the path, but there are many others who have not thus they aren't all trash.
Yet I wonder if someone posted that all Catholic priests are child molesters, the mods would've shut down that post. This is yet another example of the anti-Korea, pro-foreigner trash bias the board has. |
