Has anyone read the Lonely Planet for Canada? I bought it for Wifey just before we went there in 2002, and reading it I realized just how bland (insert joke here) -- and often incorrect -- it is.
Time to start a grassroots movement to make the editors of Lonely Planet: Canada atone for their blantant lies.

I wish Lonely Planet would beef up it's info on cities and areas outside of Seoul.
The Daegu info is tiny and inaccurate. Same with Daejeon, Gwangju, and other areas. Gyeongju is fairly spot on. Busan is lacking. Ulsan doesn't even get a mention.
There are a lot of hidden gems like Muju Resort, Jinhae, and Changwon, and many others that are worthy of some small mention. |

| I think it was a LP guide to Europe that I saw, it had an (understandably) short piece on my home town where the only two nightlife recommendations it gave were a pub that literally accomodates less than 25 people and an (exclusively) gay club that opens between 4am and 7. Nice tips for the average traveller. |

| It doesn't really matter what they put in their book. If there's nothing going on in Seoul ( and let's face it... there isn't) then I'm sure Daejon, Daegu, Busan and anyplace you'd like to mention isn't going to have too much written about it. |

Changwon is THE hidden gem? It's simply a decent city that had some urban planning done before the cement was poured. The city is modeled after Canberra I believe.
It's decent to live in and one of the better places to spend a year if you are an English teacher. But in terms of travel? Hardly a gem. I've been there a million times, to visit friends and tie one on, shopping here and there, and I suppose you could say--nice place to live but wouldn't want to visit there. |

Just stirring you Dr. Buck.
Changwon has nothing to draw the traveller besides the urban planning which as you said is nice to live in.
It doesn't warrent an inclusion, Jinhae is a hole as well. |

Yep, it is pretty unexciting. My boyfriend bought it before we moved to Vancouver, and we took the train from Toronto. The LP managed to make Winnipeg sound really interesting...
We're using it to do some weekend trips on Vancouver Island, and it's pretty unhelpful for that. |
