Anytime I'm home the A/C goes on, and stays on until I leave. Worst bill I've got is 80k. That's cheap compared to where I'm from. I'm more than willing to pay up to 500k for the comfort of not sweating it out in a concrete sweating lodge.

The most important time in our house is when our daughter is trying to sleep. We don't run AC because the new apartment we moved into is better suited to an upright AC unit rather than a wall mounted unit, which we own. So, we use the frozen icepacks wrapped in a towel which works great for keeping hands and feet cooler, which are the most direct points of contact for cooling your body down. Our daughter usually sets her feet close to the edge of the towel with the icepack wrapped in it and sleeps, well, like a baby. Laughing It works wonders for me too, and the icepacks usually last for 6 - 8 hours in a cold state. When done, just pop them back into the freezer and they are ready for another night. For day time activities we have a little play pool for the daughter that works wonder by going in for a while to cool down with mom, and then the temperatures don't feel nearly as bad.

If I understand you correctly, instead of buying a standup AC, you wrap your family up in cold packs each night?

well, the whole point of this thread IS ways to stay cool WITHOUT A/C.

and no, dude, come on, he's not wrapping anybody up in anything at night. rainman creates makeshift icepacks and places them near the kids' feets and heads while they sleep.

Thanks 'dude'. I realize he isn't wrapping his family up in ice. I'm joking skipper.

Laughing Thanks for that, it made my day. I am glad we decided to do it though, because a little cool is all that is needed to help comfort my daughter, who is the one we worry about most. My wife and I can tolerate the heat a little better than the little girl, so we are concerned about making sure she doesn't get over heated via natural causes. We did check out AC prices the other day, I was surprised to see that there still remains a large quantity of AC units available at Emart and LotteMart when we went window shopping.

I recent got one of those "bamboo sheets" for my bed. It helped. Previously, I had one of those "cool jelly" mats, but my body would heat it up too quickly. The bamboo seems to stay neutral or cool.

Now, maybe I should get myself a bamboo wife Very Happy

They are available, my wife has shown to them to me when we were shopping and I just told her no thanks. Cool
