Hello everyone,

I have a friend who is planning on coming to Korea in the fall. He wants to work at a hagwon that provides housing as well as do part-time teaching during his free time at a different hagwon. Is this possible, or are there contractual obligations which do not allow this? Any answers would be appreciated.

Thank you.

EDIT: Also I wanted to add that he may be eligible for an F4 visa, but this is uncertain at the moment.

It would have to be OK'ed by Korean Immigration and the School that sponsored your visa. Do they even do that, I don't know? Otherwise on an E-2 visa it's illegal and if caught you'll be deported.

Thanks for the reply.

So it's 100% impossible on an E2 visa but there might be a possibility with an F4?

Its certainly possible on an E2.

The original hagwon owner/sponsor has to be onside & willing to report this to immigration (but many expressly forbid it in their contracts) & the additional hours & total pay need to be less than the primary sponsor's. Then immigration determines if its okay, but if everything's in order, shouldnt be a problem.

Oh I see. So the key then would be to find a reasonable hagwon that is nice enough to let him work at another place.

Thanks for the reply
