I am thinking of sending about one million won to my account in the U.K. IT'S NECESSARY. How can I do this without having to go through my co-teacher? I would rather not have to trouble him. I have the International banking details of my account back home.
By the way, my bank here is IBK. Can I only send money from the branch in the town I live in, or can it be another branch?

You can wire it from the bank.
You can send it western union.
you can contact the English help line at your bank to set up a remittance account to send money home at the click of a mouse.

You need your cash, your passport and about an hour of your time.
You do not need your co-teacher.

+1
It might be a little difficult/ cause you a bit of anxiety the first time, but soon you'll feel confident doing it whenever you need to, on your own schedule and without the whole school needing to know your business. Once you start gaining that independence, it's a great feeling. Have fun learning! Smile

If you are going to be sending money home regularly, I would suggest getting a KEB Foreign Remittance Account (Easy-One is the "brand" name). Once you get it set up, any money you put into the account is automatically wired to the foreign account you linked it to. This, coupled with online banking at your main account (or by opening another, regular KEB savings account) will let you move money from your savings to the remittance account from whatever computer you are on.

The remittance account funds show up in my US bank account within a couple of hours, day or night (longest wait for me was 12 hours, shortest was 15 minutes).

Online banking was kind of a pain for me to set up (getting the digital certificate on a flash drive is a good idea, so that you are not locked in to using one computer...I've never put it on my cell phone, but that might be easy too). However, once it IS set up, transfers and wiring money home are quick and easy...and no trips to the bank 'til the certificate needs to be renewed (I can't seem to do it online on my own...)).

Bolded option is stupidly expensive. Best avoided.

It is stupidly expensive but also the least hassle for a one-off, FAST, transfer of funds to home.
