She wasn't that quick on the uptake, atwood. Plus, she pronounced Fuk with a long u (like the oo in shoot). She also pronounced Wi as Wee. Still, I'm wondering how it even made it to air.
Also, someone posted it a few hours before you did. |

Right. I didn't look for a separate thread on it since it so naturally fits in with this one. |

Friend, this is Dave's. I'm surprised there aren't already 20 threads on the crash itself. |

http://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/news/nation/2013/07/119_139103.html K government and Asiana aren't happy....NTSB as far as I can tell has released facts and has said in every i review for people not to jump to conclusions in regards to the pilots etc. Asiana is in damage control understandably.. hence the rolling out of the flight attendants for the media |

Makes you wonder how the investigation would have been handled had the accident occurred in Korea. Can you say whitewash, girls and boys? |

Pilots Union Blasts Feds For Talking Openly About Asiana Investigation
"ALPA is stunned by the amount of detailed operational data from on-board recorders released by the National Transportation Safety Board this soon into the investigation. The amount of data released publicly during the field portion of the accident investigation is unprecedented. |
I will be interested if in the future NTSB will be so eager to publicize data so early in a field investigation if American based pilots are involved. Not saying they won't but it will be interesting to see if they are consistent with this new policy they started with a foreign airline.
And the fact the NTSB confirmed over the telephone these racist names to the television station makes me question the type of folks that get hired over at the NTSB. The names were read over the phone, why wouldn't the NTSB pick that up?? |

That's what unions do--they protect their members right or wrong. I would be very, very hesitant to use that as a means of discrediting the NTSB's investigation.
The NTSB has given its reasons for releasing the information when it did--it wants the investigation to be as transparent as possible. Would you rather be kept in the dark?
And do you really think if the plane were piloted by Americans and was owned by an American company the investigation would have been any different? Other than that they would have been tested for drugs and alcohol tested?
The JetBlue pilot who flipped out faces 20 years in prison. American pilots have been sentenced to prison.
There's no evidence whatsoever for your racist comment. Other than maybe what you see when you look in the mirror. |

Pilot or Flight Attendant?
I recall a Flight Attendant flipping out at a passenger, having a beer and leaving the plane on the tarmac. He was later arrested and convicted. Was not aware of a pilot issue with JetBlue. |

Meanwhile, in China, Asiana takes full blame and promises to do better in the future. In Korea, Asiana remains defiant, refusing to accept blame for the crash.

Airline says sorry to all of China after third fatality
July 15,2013
Asiana Airlines issued an additional apology to China following the death of 15-year-old Liu Yipeng, the third victim of the crash of Flight 214 at San Francisco International Airport.
All three victims were teenage students from the same middle school in China.
According to the airline, Liu had been in intensive care at San Francisco General Hospital and died Friday morning, local time.
The three classmates were traveling to the U.S. to attend a summer English-learning camp.
Asiana President and CEO Yoon Young-doo issued the apology directly after the news came out.
Last Friday, Asiana placed apologetic advertisements in the People’s Daily, the official newspaper of the Communist Party, the Zhejiang Daily and the Beijing Youth Daily. There were 141 Chinese passengers on Flight 214, the most of any nationality.
“We at Asiana Airlines would like express our utmost sympathy and regret for the distress experienced by the Chinese people and government,” the ad read. It was signed by both Yoon and Park Sam-koo, chairman of Kumho Asiana Group.
“We will take effective measures to prevent such an accident from happening again, and make an all-out effort to regain the trust of the Chinese people.”

Have you even seen the Korean language media? The president and all the senior executives bowing in apology is accepting blame for the crash. |

Margaret,
Have you read Gladwell's explanation of how this works? Read Malcolm Gladwell's summary of how the communication between Korean pilots and staff and it all makes sense. |

They're all "lawyered up" by now. Symbolism like bowing won't mean anything in court but statements, like the defiant ones Asiana is making in the Korean media will matter. |
