Radio Host Offers Rachel Jeantel a Full Ride to College

"She deserves a chance," Joyner added. |
I'm sure colleges are chomping at the bit to have her help bolster their academic reputations. |

She says she has a 3.0 average. She can't read cursive. She's 19 and a junior in high school. She can hardly speak English, despite living her whole life in an English speaking country and attending English speaking schools. The girl never should have been put in the media spotlight. Why are these trials televised and turned into a circus? |

To be fair cursive is an ugly stupid way of writing that unless written by someone with great handwriting can be hard for anyone to read. |

Anyone literate in English should be able to read cursive, at least to some reasonable degree. Struggling to make out a particular word is completely different than being more or less entirely unable to reread a letter you supposedly dictated. |

At least you called me sir. Not disagreeing that at the moment she doesn't seem like college material, just the idea of measuring intelligence by understanding something as worthless as cursive was funny to me. |

| I suppose it was a bit rude of me to quote you right away after you previously said you liked to have time to edit, my apologies. I don't disagree that she doesn't come across as intelligent, but I find the mockery of her to be a particularly cruel aspect of the farce all of this turned into. She, however reluctantly, did her duty to testify, and has become a national laughing stock because of it. It doesn't surprise me that she lied about her age in a vain attempt to maintain privacy. Even if she is not ready for college, I'm sure she is smart enough to understand every jape and insult about her that has become so prevalent. You had the right instinct when you edited your post, which was nice to see. |

Well perhaps if she hadn't lied under oath on the stand (2-3 times)...she could have come out of there with some dignity intact. Or for that matter claimed that she couldn't read a letter she supposedly dictated.
In other words she bought it on herself.
And she doesn't seem too abashed either. Just a few days after the trial where she supposedly has become a national laughing stock...here she is again in the public eye of her own volition. Some people just can't resist milking their 15 minutes no matter how much they humilate themselves.

Or perhaps they want to defend themselves, or explain themselves afterwards to try to regain their dignity. After seeing what happened, can anyone doubt the prudence in her trying to protect her privacy, even by lying about her age. If you think she would of been spared if she had told 100% of the truth, then you're naive. People like Titus, et. al would still be calling her the fat black girl making fun of how she talked, or organizations that make money off of laughing at poor black people, such as the Blaze that you linked to below.
Yes, the girl who didn't want to testify and tried to get out of it bought it on herself by happening to be talking to someone on the phone. |
