I have C&M internet with 100mbps down/5mbps up. For a whole 2 years, it's been fine. Then I move to a place basically next door and now I get out of this world latency, sometimes up towards 3500ms for out of country servers.

This sucks when I'm playing games, skyping, whatever. Sometimes it spikes, and some times it lasts for days.

So, I've tracked down the problem to a node in Korea, LG Dacom. I guess for international connections C&M employs LG Dacom to handle handle things for them.

I seems hard to complete a BF3 game with a k/d ratio of 5 without being kicked or have a decent conversation with my parents without them needing me to repeat myself a few times.

Has anyone ever come across this problem and fixed it? I'd love to drop them as an isp, but I'm tied into their contract. I call for tech service almost every week, they come and replace the modem, run a speed test to their local servers and calls it all good.

Help!

This sounds strange, but try replacing your cables. Your Cat5 cable, the cable going into the modem, everything.

I once had a AT&T guy come out and check everything, all the way back to the node down the block. Turns out the actual cable was dying. Strange, cause it was fine before about 3 weeks before my call. Replaced, and had fine internet until I moved to Korea. So try the cable change, it might be something weird like that causing the problem.
