Hi!
So I am really interested in coming to Asia, and I am leaning towards Korea because everyone said that it would be impossible to bring my dog with me to Japan. (I checked the embassy website and they were right.) She is pretty small about 30lbs. I would want to live in a city that is smaller and has mountains etc. Which seems plausable, unlike in Japan. Now for the other issue. I just got married, and he is Peruvian, would he be able to work at all teaching Spanish or working in a bar or restaurant? Would a school ever sponsor two visas if the other person isn't teaching at their school? Please let me know what you think. Thanks for the help,

Go to Japan. You'll have a much better experience. The dog can't be more important than your overall experience of living abroad.
In Japan you own that work visa. In Korea, you're running a huge risk of ending up in a nightmare situation. Don't risk it, plus Japan is so much more fun and clean and advanced. |

| Japan would be better for your Peruvian husband also. There is a pretty big community there of Peruvians where he can network and make friends. |

| You could get a dependent visa which would mean that he would be able to come here, but not work. Overall, it wouldn't be a great situation to support two on a single salary unless your ultimate goal is only to travel and don't care about money. |

No, they weren't all that keen on Fujimori themselves - he was a complete crook.
The Brazillian community there is massive, lots of South Americans there though. |

| Yes I already know about the Peruvian ex-pat population in Japan, but the DOG! I honestly don't want to live without her.....and it's basically impossible to get her into Japan. |

there'll be other dogs. Maybe other husbands too, but think of him before the dog will you hon? |

Of course - silly me - I think you should stay in Peru with the dog. Moving it is going to be stressful for the poor thing, pobrecitaaaaaa... have you asked the dog if she wants to go Korea? She might fancy Taiwan or even the Cayman Islands, don't be so selfish - the dog always comes first! |

| lt isn't impossible to bring a dog, but it can be difficult. I had a friend bring 3 dogs from Canada to Sendai. The company he worked for just had to find a place that allowed dogs. You do, however, need to do a lot of leg work to get the dog into the country. |

From what I can tell, it is possible to come to korea to work (im assuming you mean as a teacher since your posting on an efl board?). Your husband would have a different type of visa which would mean that he cant work. If he wanted to teach Spanish, he would need to get a sponsor, the same as you and they would transfer his visa over so he is legally allowed to teach. I think its the same if he wants to work anywhere else, he'd need to change his visa. That being said however, I doubt anyone would want to sponsor him to work anywhere apart from a factory if he cant speak korean. He may find work as a spanish teacher though if his English is good enough.
As for the dog, if thats a complication for emigrating short term that you're prepared to deal with, theres no reason you cant bring it. |

I"m here with my husband and our dog. My husband is Mexican and is a certified Spanish teacher, but he still hasn't been able to find work. Koreans want to study Spain Spanish and with the economy in Spain as it is there are plenty of them around, especially ethnic Koreans who grew up in Spain. There are also many latinos married to Koreans (mainly who met while studying English in Canada), so they fill up most of the jobs for Spanish teachers.
If you are coming from living in Peru you will have a lot more money here on 1 salary than on 2 salaries there. PM me if you have any specific questions. |

Can you get a job = yes.
Can you bring a husband = yes (F3 visa but LEGAL work probably won't happen).
Can you bring the dog = that would depend entirely on where the dog is coming from.
