| Julius, do you need to be a teacher to legally open up a private school? Do you need to be a doctor to legally open up a clinic? Heck, do you need to be a cook to open up a restaurant?. |
Before you subtly twist things Herr Kapitain, I said that plenty of unqualified people are allowed to freely operate, fruadulently posing as experts. Korea is jam full of cowboys.
I said nothing about owners who buy up a business.
Don't be confused again... please. |

So, it's got NOTHING to do with ownership, and ONLY has to do with application. Ok.

| Did your hagwon owner or boss possess qualifications in English language or education? None of mine ever have. Let alone even business managment. |
I'm curious why you'd bring up people you worked for in schools then. You were the teacher, they were the boss. You need teaching qualifications, they need to own/run the company. Why do they NEED and Ed or Biz background? Is it a requirement to have a business background to open a business? - hint - as someone who has actually opened up a business here, I already know the answer.
So let me ask you then - when it comes to people who are doing/working a job without qualifications - are you sure nothing happens to them when discovered? |

Summer boot camps are banned
July 23,2013 After five teenagers drowned at a summer camp last week, the Ministry of Education yesterday prohibited all elementary, middle and high school students from going to private camps modeled after military boot camps.
The Education Ministry and education offices from cities and provinces yesterday held a meeting to create an oversight system in the aftermath of the deadly camp accident that took the lives of five students from Kongju National University High School. The students were swept away by a wave while doing an exercise in waist-deep water at a private summer camp called the Marines Corps Education Center Training in Taean, South Chungcheong. The camp had no connection with the Korean marines.
At the meeting, the ministry prohibited schools from sending their students to the military-style camps. It also required teachers to oversee all student activities on any kind of field trip. Schools were instructed to use the services of registered, authorized program providers for field trips.
An initial investigation into Thursday’s drownings showed that teachers and the headmaster of the school were having alcoholic drinks when the accident took place. The students were doing exercises in the sea around 5 p.m. under the supervision of the camp instructors.

“I have repeatedly stressed the importance of preventing summertime accidents,” Park said. “Regretfully, accidents still continue. The latest accidents could have been prevented if only basic safety regulations were respected.” Park warned of a stern punishment for lack of oversight in the future. “If another incident concerning people’s safety takes place due to the lack of oversight, I will sternly hold the responsible people accountable,” Park said.

Maybe the most empty statement I've read for a good few weeks now (including every word David Cameron has said!) - That is a great achievement on her part! |

It may or not be related, but I have noticed a massive increase in safety precautions and lifeguards at the more popular costal destinations recently. Last week, we were all stopped form going in the water because of the swell.
Like everything in korea, the wheel turns slowly, but it does turn. I mean, nobody took safety too in the uk seriously until the incident a lyme bay. |

Koreans are so into throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
..respond excessively and punish everyone because of the wrongdoing of one person. |

| With this rampant collectivist society, it looks like South Korea as a whole encourages a very strange variety of human sacrifices. Awkward. |

It's like when I did cooking with 3rd grade elementary last week.
I gave one knife to each pair of kids (to mitigate the risk), it was also only a 9 inch knife too, so their little hands could wrap around it.
I then gave them a watermelon each and told them to carve a face of a famous person in it.
I told them not to run with the knife or to mess around, but sadly they did not listen to me - I repeatedly stressed the importance of my instructions but they did not listen.
When Minseok returns from the hospital I will make sure that he is sternly punished for his petulant actions with the blade that caused so much needless suffering to the other children!
Knifes are a natural part of life, and I thought that if I did a lesson using knifes this would help to acclimatize the children to them. In this rapidly changing world, having a range of transferable skills is invaluable to not only the children, but to the wider economy of Korea.
The principal has warned me that if another incident concerning blades happens again in my class again, there will be hell to pay!
Therefore to play safe I have decided to confiscate all of those craft knifes that every Korean kid (even kindergarteners) seem to carry with them.
This has been a great success; Minseok is now back as school (blade free) but he has suddenly shown a great affection for sharpening pencils whenever my back is turned.
Whenever I turn my back I hear a yelp from one of the smaller children, I’m not sure what is happening. I guess kids will be kids.
What else can I do! I banned knifes! |

I take it you're trying to avoid my question, Julius.
You said you never mentioned ownership, yet I quoted where you did. So which is it - must an owner of a company be certified in all the aspects of said company? |
