|
|
I was in Korea years back as a rather naive 22 year old. Anyway, one night I got into a fight, was arrested and released. Some months later a letter came saying I had to pay two million won. I did so, then the matter seemed to be at rest. I left Korea at the end of my contract.
Would I be able to return?
Is there any way to check? |

If you are a 'persona non grata', you'd been deported. |

You need to use those auxiliary verbs. 'If you were a "person-non-grata", you would have been deported'. |

You can apply for a new E2.
Immigration may or may not allow it based on THEIR records (they are part of the Ministry of Justice).
There is no definitive answer for you until you actually apply.

I know a net here who was fined for defending himself against a drunken adjoshi. They ruled that he had to pay 400k compensation or damaging the man's glasses even though the drunk old man just attacked him for no reason.
But that was years ago and he's had no trouble getting his visa renewed. |

It's routine for the consulate to check if you have a record before issuing a visa. |

I doubt it. I know a dude who got into a bar fight. He was arrested and fined. He definitely had a record in Korea. A few years later, he came back to Korea with an E-2 visa. |

It is immigration at the "visa confirmation number" stage of the process that does the (Korean) background check, not the consulate at the visa issuance stage.

Sometimes an "arrested and fined" is actually a payout of blood money with no criminal record.
Did you bud actually go to court and get convicted? |

He admitted and made a written statement that he rearranged the other guy's face. He later got a letter from the prosecutor's office saying he's guilty of battery assault and an order to pay a fine. |

I did not go to court. I simply paid the fine which came in a letter days later. |

Anyone actually believe this troll's OP? He says he got arrested and fined for touching a woman's rear at one bar/club and now he says he got arrested for being in a fight. Come on! He's a troll. |
