Does anyone know how this works? Do I pay an extra percentage to have him attached to my health insurance? I've scoured the internet with 0 answers so far.
I'm planning on returning to teach in Korea soon, but this time I'll be bringing my husband. We'd do couples positions, but he doesn't have a pretty blue American passport like I do, so it's sadly not an option. Actually, he may not even be able to get a factory job if we can't find a place to give him a working visa. |

If you are on an E2 and he is on an F3 then yes, he can be added to your NHIS (National Health Insurance Service - http://www.nhis.or.kr/static/html/wbd/g/a/wbdga0101.html ) and no, there is no increase in premiums.
If you are at a hagwon then you probably won't have medical (NHIS) so it won't be an option for him (or likely you either).

Thanks for the info ttompatz!
I'm only applying for government jobs in my first round (public schools through GEPIK, etc.). I've bookmarked the page you gave me!
I'd prefer a university job, but I might have more luck landing one of those in-country.
Any other advice for dependent spouse stuff? Especially ones from non-E2-visa countries. |

NHIS is ALWAYS an option, even if your Hagwon doesn't register you. You simply go to the NHIS and register as a self-employed person. The NHIS will usually charge you the average rate (currently about W86,000/month) and you can add your husband to the plan for free. It's a very easy and simple process. |
