Hi. I am new to Korea, specifically Anyang. I was wondering if anyone knew of anything interesting to do, or ways to meet new people? Thanks so much!

Boy, you dropped in the clover to get a nice location like Anyang. What's your closest subway station?

I lived in Anyang for 8 years. It's really not that great, although the proximity to Seoul is great.

Are you closer to Pyongchon or Sihung?

The Beomgye subway station area is pretty good. Lots of hustle and bustle, restaurants, people, batting cages, an arcade, theatres and Homeplus.

My best years in Korea were spent in Anyang. I think it's a great place. I liked il-bon-ga the best. It's the downtown area near Anyang Station. A cab will take you there if you say Anyang Shin-ae or Anyang il-bon-ga.

Lots of bars and restaraunts there. Where the university kids tend to do there drinking and dancing. A fun place. I always found Beomgye to be more of a surburban place with all of the apartment complexes around. Lots of young families and businessmen drinking after work. Still good but not as fun as il-bon-ga IMHO.

You will probably be working at hagwon-ga or beomgye/pyeongchon areas. Either way, you will be able to easily explore both areas and decide which you like better. My opinion could be dated as my first year was 1999 and you could walk through empty lots from Beomgye station to Pyeongchon station! By the time I left 5 years later, it was all developed.

Better not use the Shin-ae one. The area in Anyang in the Shihung area is starting to get a little more developed. He'll ask for clarification and then it'll get confusing for both parties. Il-bon-ga would be your best bet. Or you can take the bus. Almost all buses passing through Anyang will stop at some part of the downtown area.

I just moved to Anyang near the Uiwang border right next to Lotte Mart. What all have you found to do here so far?
