I've heard that about 70% of all Korean girls in their 20's have had plastic surgery. What is your opinion of them and would you date one? |

You can usually spot when they've had the eyelids done and IMO it's not usually much of an improvement and looks artificial. When they start having a lot of work done they can sometimes end up looking a bit like fire victims. I can see the point with major face reconstruction like a particularly prognathous jaw or a crooked nose but save your money on the rest of it. Famous people who had plastic surgery to look younger just look like people of their age who have had plastic surgery. Nothing more. |

Yeah, I agree that it looks totally obvious and artificial when a Korean girl has had surgery. What passes for western features on a Asian face really looks weird. It also makes them look shallow and like a squid with huge round plate eyes or headlamps that are way too bright.
I cringe with shame for their sake and cannot look at them without feeling awkward. |

All over the world girls spend money on themselves.
tattoos
shoes
make-up
plastic surgery
Seems a lot is cultural.
Poorly done plastic surgery reflects more on the surgeon and yet we blame the girl (victim).
Here in patriarchal Korea a girls power is her sexuality. I'm all for that enhancement.
In the West it seems like tattoos and profanity are how women express their sexuality (although why they are devolving into sailors I don't understand-maybe someone can enlighten me although my grandad was a merchant marine and I did not find him sexy at all). But ... but ... I have known some wonderful Western girls-I am just painting with a broad brush. |

From my experience dating or attempting to date a handful of them who did the big proceedures... they're mostly stuck up, money grubbing evil princess hoes who are more insecure, childish, self-absorbed, and downright stupid than any creature I've ever interacted with on this planet. I dated one girl who was pretty cool who had the eyes done but the rest were just feats of endurance to get to the finish line, hot and cold, bitchy and babyish, misunderstanding everything, contributing NOTHING to the conversation, siting there just expecting entertainment, etc. Whatever. You know how Koreans are, most girls here are just really pathetic extensions of what is the extremely superficial norm. It's sad sometimes because you can see through them and see their trapped little semblance of a personality in there, but they're stuck in the fake borg world where that part of them has essentially been made useless. Waste of time, don't bother. Have to find a girl that has been westernized a little. Most of those barbie Korean girls are brain dead leeches who hate themselves and will make you broke and miserable since they're really nutty people inside.
Women are so fake and insecure about themselves in the first place, that if it's so bad that they're willing to pay (or find someone else to pay) some dude thousands of dollars to cut their face open with a knife... they're gonna have some pretttty serious issues going on. What most people here really need is headsize reduction surgery anyway. Ohhh, jk but not really. |

So you're all for enhancing the patriarchal subjectification of women?
To the OPs question, I think it's sad and unfortunate that this is what people are reporting to in order to improve their sense of self worth. The reasons for this should be obvious. |

Reporting? I assume you meant resorting? |

What perplexes me is the fact that they are actually stuck up. It's not really their face is it? It's been enhanced artificially. So I just don't understand where all the stuck upness comes from. I know some very hot western women and they are pretty down to earth. |

My advice? Stay away.
There are usually a lot of issues goin on there. Trauma from parents, upbringing, low self esteem, you name it.
There is generally a high correlation between just downright ugly personalities and plastic surgery.
The few dow to earth Korean girls I met ( yes they do exist, but are hard to find under the age of 30) would never even considered going under the knife and actually abhorred all of it. |

It's the limitation of their personality I think, they're just dumb and don't know how else to act since they don't really have to act like much of anything to get what nature tells them they need. It's just the culture here, it's easy to survive here with no personality and get hooked up with someone who has equally less of a personality and make it through life as a functional, productive human. Whereas in most other places you'd probably find yourself in some kind of existential crisis somewhere along the way. |

In the late 80s/early 90s, South Korea had the greatest gender imbalance of births in the world. (Many females were aborted because male children were preferred. For every 100 males born, only 85 females were born.) Because the 20s demographic now has way more males than females, the females are given additional power. |

Can we please STOP feeding the OP. Look at his comments, posts and threads he's started since he joined 3 weeks ago. He does nothing but bash Koreans, stir the pot and has made ZERO constructive comments. He is trolling you guys.
I actually think he and about 3-4 other new posters are all the same person. |

That number is a little off, you can't just minus the number, it's the percentage. It's more like 89/100. But I guess people do get the point.
Anyways, it's kind of turned the other way now. It's almost now that parents prefer girls over boys now. Although I do know of a few families after having 2, or 3 kids, of one gender are trying for another and hoping it's the other. But, having more than 2 kids is pretty rare these days though. |
