My wife and I are hoping to travel a bit in Thailand before going to Korea to teach. Our paperwork is being processed, but we would like to spend as much time as possible in Thailand. We are wondering if we can get there before we get our visa issuance numbers, get our issuance numbers, and then get our visas somewhere in Bangkok while we are hanging out in Thailand.

Does anyone know if it is possible to have our visas issued in Thailand once we have our visa issuance numbers?

Thanks for the help!

Yes, you can get your E2 processed at the Korean embassy in BKK.

It currently takes about 4 (business) days.

just be aware the Korean Embassy is way out in the sticks and pretty far from a subway station, also most cab drivers have no clue where it is, last time I got my visa there, they faxed a map to my hotel which helped a lot

Nah it's not....it's barely a 10 minute walk from the Thailand Cultural Center MRT.

I've gotten Korean E-2s there 3 times and found it faster to go by subway than taxi - assuming you're staying around Sukhumvit.

Also don't necessarily believe a Bangkok taxi driver when they claim they can't find something.

I'm living in Bangkok - believe me when I tell you the subway and bus systems can take you almost anywhere in the city. It's less evolved than Seoul's excellent system, but you can pick up a bus map from any bookstore.

Just like in Korea, having the name of the place in Thai is invaluable.
