Does F6 visa-holder need a CRC? Does it depend on the employer?
If desiring to teach children, would a CRC make me more employable?
I currently have a F6 visa but no CRC.
Since I'm from Canada, where can I get the finger-prints done locally in Seoul?

I think it depends on your employer. My employer wanted me to get one so I did, but since it was only for their records I wasn't required to get it apostilled(I don't teach kids).
I have an F6 and I'm American. I got my fingerprints done at the police station in Yongsan. |

Yes, a F-series visa holder needs a CRC, if they are working at a public school or hagwon. It is the law. Immigration does NOT want it, it is now a Ministry of Education requirement.
Yes, the CRC will make you more employable. One for parents, to make sure the waygook teaching them is not a freak. Two for schools and recruiters having that CRC makes you easier to deal with. The more paperwork you have ready, the more likely they will deal with or hire you.
Go to your local -gu or bigger police station. If you are in city or town check where they have a criminal science section. The officer should be able to take the prints for you. Also call or go to the Canadian consulate for a fingerprint form. Make sure to get two done. |

What do you do with the finger-prints once you do them at the police station?
Do you physically bring them home and mail/courier them to the FBI (or RCMP for Canadians)?

Use your brains and Google! Geeze! Using the words RCMP or FBI and the words criminal record check. I got these links. First ones in the list both times
http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cr-cj/fing-empr2-eng.htm
https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/criminal-history-summary-checks
Or you can show more initiative and search eslcafe with Google. Look at my sugnature. This question and the procedure has has been discussed a thousand or more times.

OR you could use the buggy search on Dave's. Using the just the word RCMP. I can see 10 or more possible threads discussing what to do!
Or use Google again and find one of the thousand instructions written up on various blogs, expat sites, recruiters, school, government sites and forums. |
