I always order a new RCMP check (as a precaution) when my visa is expiring (I am on an E-2).
I submitted an RCMP check with apostile last year (on the same visa, but while I was working at a different job). I have since transfered jobs once and I am looking for a new job for September (this will thus be my second transfer on the same visa).
I read on a forum here that a new background check may be required if it is your second job transfer.
I ordered one from the RCMP at the end of March and it still has not arrived. Since my last one took 4 months and 4 days I am not too worried but I wil e-mail them this week.
1) Has anyone requested an RCMP check lately? How long did it take?
2) I always order a new RCMP check as a precaution, but will I actually need it? (I phoned the contact center and they said no but they have given me wrong information before, I am curious about people's personal experiences)
Thanks!!!! |

For a transfer you don't need one.
But it could take anywhere from 2-4 months, if you submit the fingerprint card to the RCMP.... OR it could take 1 week if you submit your fingerprint card to a licensed "cardscan" company, which forwards it to the RCMP for expedited approval. |
