According to the information on this link, one must have an income more than 3 times the average GNI for the previous year.
I looked it up and the average GNI for South Korea is around $30 000 US.
My plan was to have my TOPIK at level 3 in order to apply for the F-5 in March 2015 (I will be on the same E-2 for 5 years at that time).
I guess I also need to find a magical way to make $90 000 US on an E-2 visa.
I am confused........
Anyone who has gone from E-2 to F-5 who can shed some light on this?
Thanks!!!!

Well, I found out that to upgrade my F-4 to an F-5, I'd have to make double Korea's GNI. |

Curious - is F5 an investor visa? Or does Korea allow only wealthy 'migrants' (sorry to my friends apologists, you know that I really meant moronic foreigners) more rights? |

The F2-99 is probably the path you need.
It's something like;
same visa for 5 years
more than 30,000,000 in the bank
salary higher than the average GNI
more than TOPIK 2.
That's how someone on 1345 explained it to me. No need for a sponsor. But I also heard you are not guaranteed the visa even if you meet the requirements. It's down to the immigration officer's discretion...but not sure about that one. |

Maybe you should look into getting an F2 visa through the point system.
If you think you could get the F2 point-system visa, then you can apply for the F5 visa AFTER you have held the F2 visa for three years.
I THINK the current requirements that need to be met (to go from the F2 point-system visa to the F5 visa) are:
1) proof of 30 Million Korean Won in Korea
2) proof of having earned more than 2 times the average GNI in the previous year
3) TOPIK 2 (or higher) certficate OR completion certificate from immigration's social integration program AND must have received 15 points or more in the language proficiency category when you received
your F2 point-system visa
Do keep in mind that requirements can change from one year to the next. |
