cute! someones premenstrual.

i mentioned i wasnt gyopo because IPayInCash seemed to think only gyopo agreed that korean food in california was better than in the motherland.

if youre serious about the chinese food thing ...

as stated by IPayInCash, japanese food in japan is better in japan, not for authenticitys sake but because it really does taste better. i think that while chinese-american food is in a class of its own, its not BETTER than chinese food in china. korean food in los angeles, ca, is not "korean-american food" in the same way that chinese-american food is. have you actually had either?

sorry to break it to you war eagle, but chinese food in america is NOT chinese food. it's what the chinese immigrants made to appease americans who couldn't stomach traditional chinese food. it could be called "american food with a touch of chinese" perhaps.

and korean food in the states is nowhere near as good as in korea. even in koreatown in nyc in the places run by koreans it's still not the same.

I'm talking about food from Chinatown, LA, not normal American Chinese food. Sorry, should have clarified.

I find it hard to believe that the Chinatown in LA wouldnt have the same stuff that Panda Express has (beef and broccoli, orange chicken, et al.)

I know LA very well. Any recommendations of these gems that are better than China?

Even so, my question remains. Perhaps you missed it before, so here it is again.

Where all in China have you lived/visited to come to the conclusion that Chinese food in America is better than all of the variances of actual local cuisine? I'm curious what different provincial food you've experienced IN China.

As someone who had his fair share of Korean food back home before coming here, I can say most Korean dishes in Korea are better than in the US and for the most part, are similar.

However, Korean spicy pork, especially the kind that was cooked on a park grill for church, cannot be found here and is missed and fondly looked back on by Koreans who lived overseas in the states.

It's not 두루치기. It's like it, but somehow different.

Also, 만두 baked in a pizza oven was deemed an instant classic. Crispy like fried dumplings, went not so greasy like steamed ones.

Japchae was somehow slightly better back home, as I recall....

Wow Laughing Someone's wound tighter than a monkey's nuts. Also, you're a troll, a liar and like to stir the shit, "IPC" Rolling Eyes . If I ever respond to one of your posts after this one, it'll be by accident.

As for Byrddogs, I have plenty of experience with China. At least, well more than enough to make the statement that Chinese food from China, in my opinion, tastes like ass. Let's leave it at that.

At least you gave somewhat of an answer this time; albeit one that suggests that you know next to nothing about Chinese food. It's all good. I'm ok to leave it at that as well.

In other words, you have no experience with China since youre unable to name any specific places you lived in in China. Thanks for playing. Better luck next time.

You're right, because someone who only ate Korean food in Daegu didn't get an accurate representation of Korean food. Or someone who only ate American in Chicago. Or only French in Lille. Or only Japanese in Fukuoka. Or only.. wtf? Is this what you are trying to say?

EDIT: I'm not about to get into an argument with you over a simple statement about my experiences with Chinese food. I'll say it one last time and done: The Chinese food I've had in Chinatown LA, where they serve authentic Chinese food (or at least not typical American Chinese food), is better than the crap I ate in China.

Jesus, you can't even make a simple statement on Dave's anymore about your personal taste preferences without getting attacked by multiple people who want to try and tell you that your preferred food choice is somehow wrong. Angry much?

i have never seen orange chicken/panda express fare in chinatown, los angeles. if you know la so well, you should know that there are authentic (maybe not "better," but VERY good) chinese restaurants in chinatown and monterey park/san gabriel valley. i cant remember the name of the place, its off broadway and 6th(?), that serves a mean chow fun. and a few blocks up, towards the entrance to the 110, are a couple of excellent dim sum joints.

I wish I could remember the places I went. It was so long ago. I went to LA for a month and Santa Barbara for a couple months after I graduated uni. I just remember the Chinese food there was unlike any I had ever had before, and it was absolutely amazing.

If you lived/traveled in China you should be able to back up your claims without deflecting. Its not that hard, and people asking you to back up your claims is not attacking, thats how argumebts are defended in case you werent aware.

This guy reminds me of that Glenn Beck / Katie Couric video where Glenn Beck is simply asked to back up his statements and accuses Katie Couric of attacking him Laughing
