did anyone actually read his reply? he was being silly, ffs! |
Here's the thing. Yes, I did read that and yes my initial thought was he was clowning. My question to that was innocent enough I believe. I was curious as to what kind of food and where in China it was sub par. I think Shanghainese food kind of sucks (dumplings are ok), but that's but one regional cuisine. Saying Chinese food in China "tastes like ass" without being able to say why and where you ate that food doesn't answer anything. It is just an opinion, which is fine.
So, yeah, maybe I was asking too much by wondering where that opinion came from. As I said before; it's all good. |

love love love the dumplings! i used to stand in line for no less than 90 min every time i went to nanxiang bun shop. id buy five or six "boxes" (eating one immediately in the neon-lit garden) and take the rest home to my husband.
i like shanghainese cuisine. i dont find it sweeter than food from beijing, as many are quick to point out. to each his own! |

Apart from the occasional shoe and/or jean shopping debacle, most of the things I have a hard time finding are specialized baking items and seasonal edibles.
For example:
Popover pans
Springform cake pans
Vanilla extract (though I make my own now)
Poppy seeds
Nutmeg
Cream of tartar
Dried lemon or orange zest
Proper orange pumpkins for carving
Apple cider (the nonalcoholic kind)
Eggnog
Dried figs for making figgy pudding
Large packages of powdered sugar
Egg-dying kits
Ricotta (I can make this too, but it's way less convenient)
Italian sausage
Edamame! Why isn't this everywhere?
Trader Joe's
Indian buffets
Organized hardware stores
Things that are around but stupidly expensive:
Butter
Cheese
Avocados
Oatmeal
Quinoa
Decent bread
Fruit in general
Baby EVERYTHING |
