My Korean friend just called me to say that she heard on KBS that an E2 visa sponsor is required to compensate the visa holder for airfare (she wasn't sure if this was regarding entrance or exit flight)

Does anyone have more decisive information regarding this?

Yes, stop watching KBS. Airfare is one of the last things you can enforce in a contract. Labor board won't help you. That is between you and your employer. This means, if they don't pay you can take legal action but it won't be easy.

AIRFARE is an agreement made between the school and you. Nothing more, nothing less. Nope, not required.

Airfare is a contractual matter between the employer and employee.

Costs of repatriation of the foreign employee are the employer's to bear should the "foreign employee" need to be removed from the country (that "guarantee/sponsorship form that employers have to sign).
