Hello everyone,
I'm moving to Seoul soon and I'd like to rent a room/officetel with bath & shower, and that is hopefully bigger than a closet. I'm looking for something close to a subway station, and preferably in or near Gangnam.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what they think I could reasonably expect to pay for such accomodation?
Thanks!!!! |

Are you just moving here for fun or what? It probably ain't gonna be cheap. There are some cheapish handbag hoe dungeon places with low key money around Nonyeon but they're still like 800k a month at least. That's all I know. |

I'm moving for long-term employment, but for now I'm looking for something short-term, cheap, and near Gangnam. |

Try Yeoksamdong, http://seoul.craigslist.co.kr/search/apa?query=yeoksamdong
Also, look at the subway map. Yeoksamdong is on line 2 next to Gangnam station. |

uh yeah. short-term, cheap, and gangnam don't all go together. the only cheap short-term you'll find near gangnam are goshiwans. you can find short-term officetels but they are hardly cheap. |

I'm leaving my place in Gangnam in 3 weeks if you want to take it over. It's not an officetel (more like a villa), and you might consider the rent high (80 man won), but there's no key money and the lease is for 3 months (month to month after that). It also comes furnished (including a 42" plasma TV). It's between Yeoksam and Gangnam subway stations. |

My place:
officetel
new building
don't know how many pyeong
small loft bedroom upstairs
modern washer & fridge
20mil deposit and 600k per month, 1 year contract
25 mins from gangnam and 15 from hongdae
love it
Good luck getting cheap short term and nice in gangnam
if you look away from gangnam, it is cheaper |

Naver or Daum are the best for searching for officetels.
land.naver.com
realestate.daum.net
Gangnam is pretty pricey. For a maximum budget of 10mil down / 900 a month, this is they type of place you would be looking at:

If you're working in Gangnam, it would be better to look for something along line 9 or 2. For the same price, you can get a much bigger/nicer officetel in Mokdong/Gangseo/Dangsan for example. The express train is only about 25-30 minutes from that area. |

If you want better listings, eff google and eff craigslist, go to the korean search engines like Naver and type in one room or office tel in Korean. Type the city or disctict in too. (All in Hanguel.) |
