Disagree. They make any woman who wears one look matronly. And they always choose the worst shade of pastels. |
Personally, I think 'hanbok' on a woman is beautiful. Sure you can't see her figure, but so what. Also there's nothing more adorable that walking out of your classroom and seeing your whole grade 3 class in the hallway wearing hanbok ('etiquette' class). Children look beautiful in Korean clothing....The men, not so much. And it bothers me when foreign teachers get together for some event at a public school, and the Koreans try to get us dressed up in hanbok for photos. I cringe when newbies are eager to participate in this farce. (I find it somewhat reminiscent of taking foreigners to Dokdo for propaganda photo ops.) I adamantly refuse to participate. That, however, doesn't mean the clothing is unattractive. And as far as the colors they choose, I think they compliment each other beautifully.
I'm no Korea defender (god knows), but I have to give credit where credit is due. |

Chinese qipao.
ROFL.
Like night and Day. Even the dresses from Vietnam and Japan look better on women than the garbage that is the hanbok. The hanbok is where boners go to die. They add about 100 pounds on the girl and she looks less like a good looking woman and more like a walking blimp. Koreaboos fighting an uphill battle using the words beautiful and hanbok in the same sentence.  |

I'm grew up in BC, and did my university schooling in Ontario. I agree with both of the above. Growing up in BC, I traveled around Alberta and California.
When I moved to Ontario I traveled around Chicago, Boston, NYC.
Living in Ontario felt much more like the USA than BC. But the strange thing I found is that my friends in BC were pro-USA, but most Ontarians seemed anti-USA.
I remember LA was playing Montreal for a hockey championship, and I was cheering for LA. Some people were like "what?" And I said, I have more in common with LA than Montreal. |

It's funny you mention this. I used to think Alberta was pretty much 90% pro-American (me being slightly anti-American btw). And probably is the most pro-American in Canada. That was until I was watching the World Junior Hockey Championships in 2011-12. Not sure if you were watching...
Anyways, the Americans were playing the Czech (I think), in Edmonton. There was absolutely no love for the Americans. Anytime they touched the puck it was all boos from 15,000 people... I'd imagine they would've gotten the same treatment in Calgary. And these players are kids, mostly aged 17-19, even some 15/16 year olds. Kind of felt sorry for them, yet not really, since they were Americans... lol
So, I'd say Alberta is more like 25% pro-American, and the rest are pretty ambivalent about the US. |

I used to think that Quebec is the most pro-American part of Canada. I moved to Ontario for an year afterwards. My experience tells me that Ontario is generally more pro-American than Quebec. |
