I was wondering if you have to bring in a doctors note or anything my contract does not say anything about sick days. I know there a bit Taboo, but if anyone has any experience or knowledge about it. that would be great!!! |

If sick days are not in your contract then you have no sick days. A doctor's note will make no difference. Sick days are not required by law. Most Koreans try never to use sick days if they have them at all. Even when you have sick days in your contract taking them is generally frowned upon at best. |

What you do is, you go to work sick. You sneeze over everybody, limp all over the place, and basically die. When everybody at your work are totally fearing for their lives and are forced to turn on fake sympathy, you'll be sent home. That'll be about 30 minutes before knocking off time. Next day, do it again. When they can't stand you anymore, they'll ask you to not come at all. When that happens, you must decline three times. After that you can take sick days.
Different rule applies to hospitalization.
Oh yeah, obligatory comment about smoking hot girlfriend and whatever |

I have taken about 10 in six years, and have never had any problem. No note was ever needed. |

Our contract just says we won't be paid for classes we don't teach. So if we're sick and don't come to school, our pay is decreased. |

That is one thing that is not so good about Korea. I got the Flu twice when I was in Korea, stayed home one day on two occasions, also had a colonoscopy one day and I went to see the results another day. This was over two years and I heard that there was some complaining. |

Ttompatz, please correct me if I'm wrong.
I don't know about now, but it used to be that employees were legally entitled to one day of paid sick leave per month (not that most hagwons would respect the law). |

Nope.
At a PS you can take up to 15 days but if you are sick for more than 3 consecutive days (weekend included) then you need a Dr. note.
At a hagwon you get what is in your contract.
There is NOTHING stipulated in law (other than 1 day per month for menstruation leave for ladies) about "sick days" or "personal days".
