lol, philosophy is now just a "throw-away" degree. Thousands of years of extremely talented people, some of the best to have ever lived, giving their best thoughts on almost everything, not least what makes a dignified and meaningful life for the short and (presumably) only time we'll ever live, but now it's to be thrown away because it doesn't get some precious dear a job in an office. What *beep* has this species become? hahaha

On the contrary, the fact that people still do choose to study such things despite the fact that it may not lead to a job speaks well of humanity. The fact that certain parties in society are pushing (reasonably successfully) for our higher education system to be reduced to a mere work-training program is a problem, but it's a cultural problem rather than a problem with humanity in itself.

I'm just kidding...kind of.

but anyway, you always have to make your decisions based on the options that are actually in front of you, not on those you wish were there.

Think of it like playing poker (Texas Hold-em). You may have potential options based on what you hold in your hand, but it's what comes up on the flop (as well as the cards that others hold) that determines your actual options. You may need to win with a different hand than you originally planned on.
