I predict that it will be a great competitive fight.

Although many analysts think that "Money" Mayweather will clearly outclass his latest challenger, based on what I've seen of Alvarez (mainly his fight with Shane Mosely), I think his size, youth, strength, patience, defense, power and combination-punching will pose a tougher challenge to Floyd than Miguel Cotto, who mainly had toughness, size, and power going for him in his title shot.

One thing Cotto has over Canelo is his jab. Cotto has one of the best jabs in the sport and it's the reason he gave Mayweather problems. I don't see Canelo pinning Mayweather down to actually get off his combinations. People think combination punching will give Floyd problems but the thing is, he never even gives you a chance to throw them. Canelo has incredible combinations but I don't see him ever really throwing them.

I know this forum doesn't have a lot of boxing fans but I'm surprised nobody is talking about Garcia vs Matthyse except me. That in itself is a huge fight. The best fight at 140lbs that could've been made now. Both guys with legit skill and power.

At this stage, I'm not nearly as into following boxing as you are, but boxing does seem to have made a comeback at least insofar as number of quality fighters and exciting fights. If they ever manage to institute a less corruptible system of judging it would have more credibility and probably more fans.

Zab Judah, a common opponent, has expressed his views on the Garcia- Matthysse fight... http://espn.go.com/blog/dan-rafael/post/_/id/5506/judah-owns-unique-garcia-matthysse-perspective

Based on what he said, I'd probably pick Matthysse to catch him with some really big shots. According to this analyst, Matthysse might even be a better boxer... http://espn.go.com/blog/dan-rafael/post/_/id/5506/judah-owns-unique-garcia-matthysse-perspective That said, if the odds are 3-1 or more against him, it might be worth backing Garcia, especially since he has never lost a pro fight.

Shane Moseley, mutual opponent of Mayweather and Alvarez, thinks Canelo "has a great shot" at upsetting Floyd... http://www.badlefthook.com/2013/8/19/4636810/mayweather-vs-canelo-shane-mosley-says-alvarez-can-beat-floyd (Sooner-or-later, I'll have to get Showtime to at least see the replays - it was easier to do so in Korea...)

Practically all the boxing experts at ESPN are picking Mayweather to win - the one notable exception being Teddy Atlas...

Mayweather widely on points; he will 'oldman' him in the same way Hopkins did with Pavlik. Shocked

I thought it would be at least competitive. I thought Canelo would at least be able to pressure Floyd with his strength and power. Not even close. Floyd is the one pressuring him! Floyd is another level.

What'd I say about boxing's loss of credibility due to outrageous judging?... http://sports.yahoo.com/news/boxing--judging--controversy--can-t-steal-thunder-from-floyd-mayweather-in-lopsided-win-070711094.html

Shobox made an epilogue episode that takes a look at the fighters camps after the weigh ins and during and after the fight itself. I think it's a good idea and wondered why HBO never did it with 24/7. It's interesting to see what they do after the weigh-ins and how they get ready in the dressing room. I chuckled when one of Floyd's daughters yelled, "Where's the blueprint at?"

I felt bad at how discouraged Canelo looked after the fight but I believe he will learn from this and come back a better champion.
