Could someone shed some light on the EPIK pay scale? I'm trying to figure out If I'm level 1 or level 2.

I've got a 4-year bachelor degree in an unrelated field (Bachelor of Science, Interactive arts), and a TESOL/TEFL Certificate. Does that mean that even with my TESOL/TEFL I am STILL only level 1?

The EPIK pay scale table is confusing because it lists *ALL* those bullet points for level 2. It doesn't say "have one of the following", it just lists the bullet points as follows:

· Teacher’s license

· TEFL/TESOL or CELTA certificate (100+hours)

· Bachelor’s degree in Education, English* or Linguistics

· Master’s degree in any discipline

· 1 year full time teaching experience with Bachelor’s degree in any discipline

· At least 1 year TaLK Schlolar experience**

You'd be level 1. In years past any bachelor's degree would qualify you for level 1, but the requirements were revised in 2012, I believe, requiring one of the additional qualifications you quote from their pay scale for level 1.

With a BA and a 100 hr TEFL/FESOL cert (with a minimum of a 20 hour "in class component") You'd be at level 2.

The levels and requirements for each level haven't changed.

The minimum requirements for hiring have increased from level 3 to level 2.
No level threes are expected to be hired after Sept 2013.

OP, I misattributed the base hiring level as 1 in my post, and ttompatz is right that you would qualify for level 2, which is currently the base hiring level. However, I just rechecked the EPIK pay scale, and in their numbering, level 3 would refer to the qualification level they are no longer hiring, 2 to yours, and 2+, 1, and 1+ based on additional qualifications and/or experience with EPIK. So neither ttompatz nor I were entirely right!

Level 3 as in just "Bachelor's degree in any discipline"?

· Master’s degree in any discipline
· 1 year full time teaching experience with Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
· At least 1 year TaLK Schlolar experience**
