Why is it ok to bring a pet into a restautant in Korea? Don't the restaurant owners and the health inspectors know it's unsanitary?

Why are Americans so obsessed with "sanitation"? Seriously. If someone takes their (well behaved) dog into a restaurant and it sits under the table while they eat, how is that unsanitary?

I worked as a cook in Canada and the laws that we had to follow in the name of health and safety were way over the top.

nobody wants a dirty unsanitary dog in restaurants, don't you get it, people are eating their food, oh, I get it you want to be a wanna be Paris Hilton, please, get a life., I dont want to see your, skinny weak looking dog.

Next time I will bring my pet, umm, a Tiger, so I can watch it rip your pathetic dog, into pieces!!!! hahahahha

A lot of "sanitary" regulations are like gun control laws. Cosmetic feel-good legislation that really doesn't do anything about the problem, just makes people FEEL better.

Millions of homes have pets that freely roam and no one is dropping dead at the dinner table.

That being said, pets pose an allergy concern for other diners.

If anything, I see a lot more pets at cafes back west. I only know of 2 places here in Incheon where pets are allowed. One is a dog cafe, and the other is my friend's restaurant, and we only bring the dog when the weather is nice, so we can sit outside. I suppose we might be able to take him to other outdoor cafes, but it isn't worth the hassle, as it isn't part of the culture here. And no, my dog is not an accessory. He's a clean, well-behaved member of the family, who enjoys going out, is friendly to children, and he isn't small enough to be carried in a purse. He loves going out with us, and sometimes it's nice to change it up, especially as leash laws aren't properly enforced (mine is always in a harness with a leash when we're outside), and there are often free-running dogs at the park, some of which are quite aggressive. I don't take him into restaurants, though, because of the before-mentioned allergy issues that some might have.

I've taken my dog to a bunch of cafes (Starbucks, tomntoms, etc) with outdoor seating. No one has ever said a word. I would never take him to a restaurant though. I also wouldn't want to sit next to a dog inside a restaurant as well. Mainly because of the shedding or dander.

What's the difference between having your dog in a restaurant and having it it the kitchen/dining room of your own home?
