Leaving in a few days for Korea with a D10. Just wondering/want to make sure I have everything I need when I am ready for the E2. I feel like this information should be on hikorea.go site but it has poor user experience so if someone could just shoot me a link that would be swell. I have 2 copies of each of my degrees notarized + korean consulate stamps, sealed transcripts, RCMP with Korean consulate stamp and some extra visa/passport photos. Do I need to bring my original degrees with me to Korea? Seems silly if I already have a D10.

Yes I have a D10 before going to Korea. I am from Toronto so I just followed the required items from this :http://www.koreanconsulate.on.ca/en/?b_id=77&c_id=724&mnu=a02b03&start=1

All I did was get my degrees notarized and Korean consulate stamped, RCMP + consulate stamp, sealed transcripts, for the "Flight itinerary" I just went on like hotwire/expedia and printed off a potential flight I wanted to take about 2 weeks after my visa application date, For "A letter that includes job seeking or training plan" I basically just wrote a little about my self that I have visited Korea before, I study Korean so I am comfortable interacting there, how I will find a job (going out and about, posting my resume on dave's, use a recruiter or if all else fails go to a company like YBM etc), the hostels/hotels I plan to stay & how much they cost, who I know in Korea & their phone numbers, how much money I have and that I have travel insurance. Basically I tried to just make it seem like I know what I am doing and have thought of all the important things. The key too is you have to have graduated from one of the top 200 universities so just click on http://www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/world-university-rankings/ and then click on the continent you are from and search for your university. I am actually surprised they didn't require any medical information.

Initially I was going to come on a tourist Visa, find work then do a kimmi run to Japan but I realized getting a D10 before you go is cheaper + safer + faster. If for some reason my E2 got rejected or I forgot a paper/requirement I don't want to have to come all the way home to figure things out. I am sure switching from D10 to E2 is way easier than a Kimmi run. Employers probably prefer someone on a D10 than having to do a Kimmi run.

OP, I gotta ask: what did you do about a "permanent residency card (work-permit or study-permit document), plus a copy (if applicable)"??

Does this mean an ARC card (meaning you have to already be in Korea)? Or just a piece of ID from your home country?? What exactly is a "work permit," and how did you obtain one?

I did not have to show a permanent residency card; I don`t have one. I assume this is for people who don`t have Canadian citizenship (I do). Most likely you can`t apply for this visa if you are not a Canadian citizen or have permanent residence status in Canada. You would probably have to apply for this visa in your home country. No it does not mean an ARC. Where specifically did you read about work permit that you are asking about it? A work permit/work visa allows you to legally work in a country.
