Has anyone had success using an on-line translator (English - Korean)?

I was just looking at some on-line and I'm curious how accurate they are:

Online translators are unbelievably inaccurate, even for basic things. Translators work much better if the languages are someone similar like English and Spanish. Korean and English are very different.

Yup. Every time I use one of these translators I'm comforted by the fact that technology won't be putting me out of a job anytime soon. They're atrocious. I mean I'm not even that great at Korean and I can always spot laughable errors.

I was asking the students in the country I'm teaching in and they said around 90%. They seem to like it. Although when they use it to cheat it doesn't appear like it's really all that good.

They are an excellent source of humor, if you find absurdity funny.

Korean -> Japanese -> English = accuracy^

If you look up one or two words, it might be right. If you try to translate a whole paragraph, you're out of luck. My students are always trying to get away with using a translator instead of doing the writing themselves, but it only takes one sentence for me to know.

If you want to test it, find a Korean site. Copy some text and paste it into a translator. See what comes up.
