I just flew home for about $1500 direct return. Granted it's off season, but still excellent.
I've had the best experience with skyscanner. They will look up most of the major sites plus the airline websites. It works best if you're a little flexible with your dates. |
Just out of curiosity, where is home for you?
Also, I've never heard of skyscanner, so thanks for mentioning it. Will check it out. |

Toronto. Obviously Fredericton will be a lot more, but I saw some Halifax flights for around the same price. |

Yeah. The extra flight to Fredericton/Saint John/Moncton really brings the total up. Said I'd hold off but booked tonight. About $400 more than the past two years. Oh well.
Probably shouldn't but imagine I'll still check the rates from time to time; here's hoping they don't drop now.
I didn't even consider flying into Halifax. Just looked; would've saved about $150 but figure paying that much extra is worth it to save my folks the 4-5 hour drive there and back - and possibly an overnight stay - to get me.

To be honest, thought I was pretty lucky in the past to get $1700 return flights to Fredericton during the Holidays. What I paid this year is what I expected to pay both times before. |

Yes. I haven't booked it yet, but a quick skyscanner survey shaved off a few hundred bucks from my flight to Mexico City, compared to other sites. It was looking like it was going to cost me $1200-1500, but skyscanner found me one for just over $1000. Thank you, skyscanner. In other news, furtakk, I was upset to find out that you were Canadian. |

No! Noooooo! Looks like this might come true after all:

Prediction- At some point this thread will degenerate into another Canada vs. USA kerfluffle. |
Then again, not sure where you're from, augustine, so could become a Canada vs. every other country kerfuffle.

One GOOD thing that has come up is that airlines are actually booking out early bird specials. We booked round trip to Bali for the winter and are paying under 700 a ticket. As the winter break approaches, those fairs will be in the 1 million plus range. Nice little surprise. But in the end, the destination might be the most important factor. Case by case? |
