You don't say. |
I guess there are thousands of Korean kids "back home" without Korean parents. They must have been given up for adoption by their superior Korean mothers and brought to America, Canada, Australia, or UK to live with unloving and less capable western parents. |

As a representative of the apologist camp, I'd like to clarify my comrade's statement.
We, the people from the apologist camp, support every mother that is Korean and has Korean children. We also embrace every Korean mother that is married to Korean apologists (even if they are unfortunate enough not to be Korean and/or have impure Korean blood).
We should also point out that there are instances when Korean children can have unKorean parents. Obviously, we are talking about parents that might have lived in the West for too long and/or have turned into Korea bashers. Furthermore, Korean children may have been adopted, or what we call kidnapped, by unKorean parents - lawsuits are pending, so I'll refrain from saying more.
In other cases, an impure-blooded Korean mother can marry a Korean husband and have a child that is 75% Korean - 75% purity is rounded off to a 100% pure Korean child (unless this child commits a crime, in which case he is American/Chinese) who has a mother that's only 50% Korean - hence she is impure, AKA an unKorean abomination (unless she wins a Nobel prize/Olympic medal - in which case she is 100% Korean).
Please, try to understand.
Thank you.
Apologist camp. |

I know plenty of Korean kids who had Korean mothers for parents back home. And while some did experience some racism at least once in their lives, the majority had fine social lives, and then went on to do well in college and land good jobs, ones they kept even during the economic downturn. They are able to continue enjoying a middle/upper-middle class lifestyle. Many are happily married, engage in civic events, get to do the hobbies they love, and maintain a healthy relationship with their parents. If disaster strikes, the parents can rely on the kids and vice-versa.
However a lot of the people who existed in another mindset and would tease them are now at best really polite and made amends long ago and grew up and are friends with them in the office.
At worst? Those kids are working for them/serving them french fries/incarcerated/despairing over their financial future. They sold their birthrights for 4 years of being cool in H.S.
I don't consider their results indicative of any parental failure. And sorry, but teaching your kid to be responsible, following a schedule, and exerting discipline in their life is not going to be bad for their long-term well-being. |
I'm talking about raising a kid in the USA as if they are in Korea, or raising a kid in Korea as if they are in the USA. The cultural norms are different in a lot of ways, and that is why the parents use different techniques. I'm not sure if you are replying to me specifically but if you were, then read my comment more carefully and I think you will get what I was trying to say. |

This is basically a "my mother is better than yours" bragging contest.

They aren't perfect of course, their kids are typically extremely spoiled which leads to many problems, one of which being they're total wimps |
