Anybody know how to get one for the toll gates on the mainland? We don't have any toll gates here on Jeju and a friend in Seoul asked me about getting one of these. I didn't know what to tell him so I'm hoping one of you driving mainlanders could shed a little light on the subject. I understand you need a card and a machine on your dash to operate the card. Where/how do you get these things?
Thanks

You can buy the unit online. Just search for 하이패스 on naver and it shows you dozens of sites that have it for sale. Once you have a unit, then you have to register it at https://www.e-hipassplus.co.kr:8282/index.jsp. |

You get a HiPass Visa card for your machine from your bank. Mine has an annual fee of 2 or 3 thousand won. I first went to my nearest bank, and they said you need credit like a normal credit card - so a hassle. I went to KEB because I already had a credit card with them, and no problem.
So if you don't already have a local credit card, you might be in for a hassle. I told the first bank, what am I going to do, go crazy taking tolls all over Korea?
My machine itself, after 3 years, has stopped working. I'd always left it on the windshield, and I think the sunny weather fried it. So maybe don't do that. |
