I'm a dual us/uk citizen. Uk born. US raised. I have both accents (can switch between the two). Which nationality/accent should I adopt when applying. Will employers care/like that I have both?

Generally, Koreans are more comfortable with US english.

Also, Americans get their pension contributions matched & refunded. Brits dont.

Use whatever voice/accent you find comfortable to teach in, and definitely take the USA option to get your pension refunded. I am British and I have spent around 10 million won that i will never see again.

How did you do that? The British teachers I know chose to not receive pension so they can pocket the extra money since they knew they wouldn't receive pension until they were too old.

What a rookie mistake.

Are you sure about that? I was always told it was mandatory in the public school system. Perhaps you should provide some sort of official evidence rather than anecdotes before opening your big mouth, bro.

They work at dodgy hagwons where NPS and NHIC aren't paid into.

OP... take the US option. The net gain from your employer's contributions to your pension plan make it worth it.

It will be required (to pay in) if you have a government job (public school).

The US option: You pay one half, the school pays one half and the entire pension gets refunded to you when you want it back as long as you've left Korea. It basically amounts to more money in you bank account.

Isn't the British passport better, you could avoid the fringerprinting/FBI check which is more of a hassle.

Also, the NPS doesn't give a crap about the nationality on your ARC card, they will ask to see your passport and if you show them a USA one, you are golden.
