If you find the new changes uncomfortable just come down to Jeolla. It'll be like you remembered Korea to be when you first arrived, or maybe a bit old fashioned compared to that. You won't be seeing Koreans in bikinis on the beach, that's for sure |
Wow! Midriffs in Seoul? I haven't spent much more than a quick afternoon up there mostly stocking up on things. It's been a long time since I ventured around the place. Things must be changing even more quickly than I thought.
As for the way Korea was remembered down there in Jeolla, I can relate. My small country former town (in another part of Korea) when I got here in 2006, had similiarities to written descriptions on here to life in Seoul in the 90's. People butting in front of you, little old ajumma with tight short perms and long flowery pants shoving everyone out of the way, dilapidated run down buildings, garbage thrown where ever, ajossi spit puddles everywhere, girls (an elite few) approaching me with white guy curiosity while there was lots of c-blocking keeping the majority away. Oh those were the days, frustration and all.... |
