Hi,
I'm considering buying a Nikon DSLR and I'm wondering if I buy it in Korea (not gray market or anything like that, but a brand new one), will the warranty be good when I go back to America? Or does the warranty only apply for repairs done in Korea? Thanks if you have any info on this.

Here's what I know about Nikon, I imagine Canon is similar:
Yes, the warranty will be good in America, whether from an official retailer or grey market (I think what you're describing is black market). The warranty will be good in Korea only if it's not grey market, i.e. from an official Nikon Korea retailer.
That said, I've owned a lot of Nikon gear and never had something fail, in the warranty period or otherwise. |

Thanks for your response. I'm hoping the warranty will be good in America; it would be a waste to buy it and have it break later without being able to get it fixed.
I don't think I mean black market; I mean a brand new one from the Nikon store. I guess it will be more expensive than gray market but I think it's worth it for the warranty. Thanks for your recommendation on Nikon too. I've already had a Canon so I think this time I want to try Nikon. |
