Violent crime and its causes is a very important issue and worth discussing, even if its incidence is falling. The magnification of the 24/7/365 modern media that brings every crime commited anywhere to our attention makes it seem like crime is increasing when it is not. It's best to start with an accurage perspective. The reduction has not been due to any successful policy, just aging of the population. We still need to get a handle on the causes and find solutions to further reduce this ongoing problem - and there is no single cause and no single solution. |

The decline in crime predates the skyrocket in incarceration rates. Heck, the decline started during a period when criminal courts were far more left wing and punishment was generally weaker than now. It wasn't until the 80s you had the courts swinging back into law and order |

Come on, you guys are too analytical.
You can just feel the increase in anger in the states year after year, those people totally hate each other, and from that comes violence.
Hell if I'm in that states longer than 1 week, I totally want to kill people. |
