Walker Hill's buy in for whatever you want rule was what kept me from going there regularly. Only went there to get my poker fix once in a while, but would have been a frequent player if max buy in for 1-2 was 300k like normal. When you buy in for 3 stacks, it's a drop in the bucket to the guys who buy in 1.5 mil. |

LOL @ the broke teachers in this thread who can't play with the big boys.
I play at the casinos here from time to time. The Asian business aren't anything special, nothing but rookies compared to the casinos in Vegas/ATLcity. The only difference is you chumps don't have the cash to go up against them. Bunch of lowballers complaining about the buy ins being too high ROFL @you. |

Cool story, troll. We're talking about 1-2 no limit. Is that a pro's game in Vegas or LA? No, it's the game people play for shits and giggles. I'm not a pro, so if I want to have a little fun with poker, it'll be at the lowest stakes the house provides. But when there is no limit to the buy in, then it's not as fun, as it is just gambling. 1-2 really means 2-20, and you'll be all in by the turn. If I'm not going there to make a living, there wouldn't be much point in me risking 1.5k to play with them. I'm sorry that I don't make six figures in USD a year, and so I tend to value my money more than those that do. And FYI, drop the generalization that everyone on these boards are native English teachers. I may have dabbled in that during my stay in Korea, but that's not what I do now. |

I'm not a pro. I'm an amateur. They do the same thing in the American casinos. If you want to play lowball poker, then do it at your friend's house in Itaewon with all of your other broke ESL buddies.
But don't come here whining you couldn't hang with the tables at the casinos when you were Joe Teacher from Toss English going up against Asian businessmen that can call your lowball bets at will. Don't get mad at me you don't have the coin to play with the big boys. |

Not sure if srs, but every poker room I've been to, in both AC and Vegas, the 1-2 no limit max buy in was $300. Even 2-5 was $500. The common rule is min buy in was 50x small blind, and max was 100x big blind. But $300 max buy in for 1-2 was pretty standard. 1.5k buy ins are usually reserved for the 5-10 no limit game.
And no, I never called you a pro. You sound pretty amateur to me not letting go of your spiel about playing with the big boys at 1-2. If they made that from starting with an equal stack of 300k, more power to them. But, starting with that at 1-2 is complete nonsense. I don't play poker to gamble. I play poker to test my skill, which is fun. If I wanted to gamble, I might as well play baccarat because at least I won't have to sit for hours waiting for an absolute premium hand to risk my entire stack. |

That's rich coming from someone whose ajumma wife threatens him with a divorce because he spends all his time trolling forums and none with his family.
I made a trip to SEA with my smoking hot girlfriend this year playing poker at the casino. Didn't cost me a dime out of my savings. How much did you make sitting behind the computer all day? |

If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen.
Because last time I checked the casinos in Seoul and Jeju don't have a "broke ESL teacher" poker table where dispensable bums living paycheck to paycheck from Toss English can use 100 and 500 won coins as chips with a cheonwon buyin. Keep your chump poker games in Itaewon and let the big boys play. Bunch of broke railbirds. Ha Ha Ha Ha!!! |

It's the same with blackjack in this country. Obviously you're not playing against other players, but the casino will have 5 tables for $100, 5 tables for $50 and then one for $10. But the old Asian guys will line up to sit at the $10 table even though they'll play $200 on every hand. So those of us just there for an hour or two of fun can't get a seat. Of course then half these guys will disappear for an hour but the dealer will flip the eff out if you ask to sit in their seat while they're gone. Yet, they'll practically auction off your spot if you just run to the bathroom. |
